The Trucking Cares Foundation (TCF) generously takes our message about prevention to the road. TCF is proof that everyone can work for solutions and spread awareness. Unlikely organizations, such as those not directly associated with healthcare or law enforcement, can still play a vital role in combating the fentanyl crisis. Awareness and education are key, and entities like businesses, community groups, and educational institutions can contribute by disseminating information about the dangers of fentanyl and promoting preventive measures. Unlikely allies can engage in advocacy efforts to influence policy changes that address the root causes of the crisis, such as improving access to mental health services or provisions needed for schools to educate students about dangerous drugs. By leveraging their unique strengths and reach, even unconventional organizations can contribute meaningfully to the collective effort to fight the fentanyl crisis.

"The number of deaths in the United States due to fentanyl poisoning is staggering. Illicit fentanyl is found in pills and powders and has made its way into every street drug. Teen deaths have dramatically increased due to fentanyl poisoning. Tragically, nationwide drug related deaths reached a new record in 2022 with 109,680 people perishing as the fentanyl crisis continues to deepen. This new record came after over 107,000 drug related deaths were recorded the prior year," said Andrea Thomas, founder of Voices for Awareness. "The devastation to families across America cannot be ignored. The sincere actions of the American Trucking Associations' Trucking Cares Foundation demonstrate true American spirit in time of crisis when we need all hands on deck. Voices for Awareness is grateful for their contributions and looks forward to partnering with TCF moving forward to help raise awareness and tackle the fentanyl crises gripping our country. As families impacted by fentanyl can attest, the public needs to get the facts on the dangers of fentanyl and share what you know to help protect your loved ones and potentially save a life. Don't wait until it's too late."
